Metropol Clarifies Situation with Transport Subsidy Audit in Argentina

Buenos Aires, January 30 (NA) – Amid the controversy over transport subsidies, a company came forward to clarify that the audit ordered by the government encompasses all companies, not just one. In this case, the clarification was made by one of the main players in the market, Metropol, by specifying that “the audit and the eventual withholding of subsidies ordered by the Secretariat of Transport reaches the entire sector and not exclusively the company.” The company stated that the audit announced by national authorities and the eventual preventive withholding of subsidies are not exclusively aimed at Metropol, but are part of a general review process that covers all companies in the passenger motor transport system. As stated in the official information disseminated by the National Government itself, the measure involves a comprehensive audit of the sector's subsidy scheme, aiming to review procedures, control systems, and liquidation mechanisms, and is not a particular or specific accusation against Metropol. In this context, the company clarified that there is no administrative decision to withhold subsidies focused solely on Metropol. Nor is there a resolution that attributes to it irregularities that are its own or differential compared to the rest of the system operators. Metropol reiterated its “full willingness to cooperate with the competent authorities, as it has historically done, providing all the required information within the framework of the control and audit processes established for the entire sector.”
